[Professional Experience]

Mark J. McGhee came to the firm from the Office of the Attorney General, State of West Virginia. Following law school, Mark worked as personal law clerk to the Honorable Thomas C. Evans, III, Chief Judge for the Fifth Judicial Circuit of West Virginia. Mark’s private practice began in 2002 and has focused on insurance defense. He has handled the defense of high exposure personal injury defense, as well as commercial and construction litigation. For a number of years his practice has also included litigation of complex insurance matters varying from defense of insurance agents and brokers, to prosecution or defense of coverage matters and bad faith actions. He recently presented a CLE on trends related to interpretation of the CGL policy. Mark has also handled the briefing of a number of appeals in the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Mark holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Morehead State University, and obtained his J.D. at Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire. Based on his academic success, he was selected as a teaching assistant for Torts, Antitrust, and Property while at Franklin Pierce. In addition, he was selected as faculty research assistant for courses focusing on law and economics, and was part of a year study charged with redrafting of the Lanham Act, the governing statute of federal trademark law.

Mark resides in Charleston, West Virginia, with his wife and daughters.
